Mr. Royster has passed. As you might suspect, his collection and reference books were first class and extensive. Nothing compared to his mind. It has been a while since anything has been posted here, mostly because he had pulled the pin on several hand grenades and successfully rolled them into the collective camp of the fraudsters. We hope to have his collection catalogued before too long. If anyone is interested in his collection or his reference library, please respond to…

The Blacklist 2018 No 2

The Blacklist 2018 No 2 This is taken directly from a researched and published listing of German militaria dealers, and collectors, whose activities should be of interest to the collecting world. Shapiro and Al Chapman) As far as can be ascertained, the paternal side of Al Chapman’s family were from Wilno, Lithuania. His grandfather Chaim Shapiro was a Lubavitch rabbi…

From: balclava@gmail.com To: adroyster@hotmail.com Subject: Alexander Auctions Date: Fri, 26 September 2018 09:16:26 –0600   Dear Mr. Royster:   In your most excellent columns, I have been following, with admitted sinking feelings, comments about so-called “paper whiteners” and the rather distressing news that they were not used in paper until 1951.   In another posting, I note several articles about the Alexander Auctions that are certainly of a somewhat negative nature.   My unhappiness lies in the fact that I…

At one point in time, there was a plan to issue a new dagger for the SS. One prototype was made for official approval  and photographed but the project was shelved and throughout, the SS wore the standard M-36 dagger, during the war, with silver knot. Here are pictures of both the original, appearing in the Atwood book that served as a catalog of his own fakes, and a newly-created “prototype” fake. A prominent auction house shoved this one off…

The Neo-Nazi Renaissance Article by Christian Jürs In the main, fraud, counterfeiting and deceit are certainly immoral and very often felonious but in some instances, the essential ludicrous nature of some frauds manages to overcome the gravity. Such is the case of the enormous industry devoted to the creation, manufacture and sale of faked items of German militaria and elevated personality items from the Third Reich period, purporting to belong to such people as Hitler and Hermann Goering. There…

The Kassel show has come and gone and I have spent many hours there, wandering around with several gentlemen from an investigative agency, pointing the legion of fakes to them for a project they are working on. It is truly amazing the enormous amount of fake and misrepresented items being shoved off on the gullible collectors both in Europe and the United States. And I do not know what is the most entertaining; the almost total ignorance of…
